Faded Empires I
Acrylic, Pencil, Pastel
30×40 canvas
2022
Faded Empires reflects the slow erosion of structures—physical, emotional, or imagined—and the quiet inevitability of their collapse. Soft greys, muted mauves, and weathered textures suggest walls dissolving into air, their once-solid forms reduced to fragile traces. The composition balances geometry and atmosphere, allowing architecture to appear and vanish within the same breath. Gestural marks at the base ground the work, hinting at foundations overtaken by time. Neither dramatic nor sentimental, the piece invites the viewer to decide whether they are witnessing a ruin long abandoned, a wall in the moment of falling, or the first signs of decline.

The walls once held, protective,
now worn to powder.
Time presses forward, gently,
as if forgetting
why they were ever raised.
